Dear friends of the Hertie School, What do you associate with the term “university”? A building, a crowded cafeteria? For us, it is a community that works and thrives together. We have always been very proud of our Hertie School community that spans around the globe, and the last weeks have impressively put that special community feeling on display. Before his official visit at the German Chancellery, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson visited our campus for a keynote address and talked with our students and researchers about his vision for a green, free and safe European Union. For the Global Public Policy Network conference in São Paulo, Hertie School students travelled to Brazil to compete for the best policy ideas to address an ever more divided world. Moreover, thanks to the incredible preparation by professors, students and staff members, we hosted the German national rounds of the international student law competition Jessup Moot Court. About 130 students from across Germany pleaded their cases and left the event with new friends. These are just some of the stimulating events that have brought us together during a busy semester full of learning, extra-curricular activities, research and #hertielove! Read on for more stories about our students, faculty, alumni and contributions to the public good. With best wishes,
Prof. Cornelia Woll President Hertie School
