What's new at the Hertie School
Edition 3 | Academic Year 22/23 | 16 December 2022

Dear friends of the Hertie School,

Before the year slowly draws to a close and we all go on a well-earned break, let me take a moment to highlight the latest developments at the Hertie School. In the last weeks, we hosted a series of thought-provoking talks. We dared an outlook into US politics and the implications for Europe for the years to come with former US Secretary of Labor Tom Perez and gave students and guests the opportunity to challenge Prof. Thomas Piketty about his thoughts on equity and capitalism. German Minister of State Reem Alabali-Radovan provided inspiring insights on European and German migration policy.

At the Hertie School, we believe that political challenges can only be solved by leveraging expertise from different perspectives. To continue fostering a strong Europe, we facilitated a Franco-German platform for exchange and were proud to welcome high-level guests from politics, the economy and the media to the Pariser Platz Dialogue convened by the Jacques Delors Centre.

Before I leave you to read about all these exciting events, our latest research and the activities of our students and alumni in this month’s newsletter, I want to thank everyone who supported the Hertie School this year – be it with your bright ideas in class, your engagement with our university or as a guest at our events. The vibrant spirit of our community thrives because of you.

I wish you an insightful read and a peaceful and relaxing break between the years.

Season’s greetings,

Prof. Cornelia Woll
